Chateau Malescasse is located on some of the Haut-Médoc's highest ground
In the evocatively named Moulin-Rose (Pink Windmill) locality, visitors discover one of Lamarque's most remarkable chateaus.
Chateau Malescasse is located on some of the Haut-Médoc's highest ground, offering beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
The property was constructed in 1838, in the classical médocain style, on a vineyard belonging to the last Lord of Lamarque.
Visitors enter through the imposing gates to discover a perfectly symmetrical chateau, alongside a series of agricultural outbuildings.
Both the central chartreuse building and the iconic windmill have recently had their original slate roofs restored.
Visitors cannot help but admire the windmill's new structure, with its chestnut wood tiles and magnificent blades spanning 15 metres above the vines.
When night falls, the view of the illuminated windmill is quite simply spectacular.
