Château Couhins

Château Couhins is located in Villenave d'Ornon, at the gateway to the city of Bordeaux. Classified a great growth in 1959, Château Couhins belongs to INRA, the French National Institute for Agricultural Research, who saved the vineyard from disappearance by acquiring it in 1968.
Château Couhins has set an example for environmental protection thanks to the advanced research in sustainable viticulture that takes place there. After several years of management by INRA, the estate regained its great growth standing and is much in demand on the Bordeaux marketplace, where its reputation is rising.

The château’s white wine is famous for its delicate bouquet of spring flowers. It is full-bodied, lively, and long on the palate, with powerful Sauvignon Blanc characteristics.

The red wine comes from a gravelly rise typical of the appellation. It reflects all the wonderful elegance of great Graves – smooth tannin, refined cedar and raspberry aromas, great finesse on the nose and the palate, and lovely aromatic complexity.
