Top of the class at the Bordeaux Wine School

May 2021

L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux – Does the idea of going back to school make you feel pouty and petulent? School? What? No thanks, not for you.

Sit up straight and think about it: L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux is one cool school where your eyes will glitter and your mouth will water. It’s always breaktime at this school so join us, you’ll want to be the teacher’s pet here.

A school just for wine?

That’s right dear readers, because to really enjoy wine, you need to get to know it, get a feel for it and get to grips with it. So who better to guide you than people who actually work in the vineyard? Winemakers, merchants, winery owners, over 250 wine professionals who are all here to introduce you to the sector on one condition: that everyone has a good time at school.

The school has expanded overseas since 2006 with accredited trainers outside France: the school even provides classes worldwide for foreign or expat students in China, Britain, Germany, Canada and Singapore to name but a few of the 20 countries working with the school.

Here’s one for chocoholics: a class combining Saunion chocolate shop’s master chocolatier Thierry Lalet’s sweet treats with Bordeaux wine for a mouth-watering tasting experience!

Last but not least, if you’re playing with the big boys and are a connoisseur then try the “exploration” class where you test your skills with everyday dilemmas faced by sommeliers before showing off your expertise at an amazing dinner at the château.

We’re not going to lie, this unique school is a source of real Gironde pride and the entirely linked site looks as good as your wine tastes. And when the bell rings for home time, we don’t want to leave. Quick, jot the next dates down in your diary, next to notes from your new classmates.
