In Saint Germain d’Esteuil, Château Castera is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. Montaigne annotated part of his Essays in Château Castera in the 16th century, but it was not until 1839 that the wine estate was created. Today it belongs to Thomas C. Press who watches over the vineyard with a whole team of professionals.
Next to the imposing stone building, come to admire the chapel surrounded by centuries-old oaks and cedars, witnesses to so many events. Then follow our guide through the vines who, depending on the season, will explain you the pruning of the vineyard or the progress of the harvest. In the cellar, in the middle of a forest of oak barrels, the manufacturing secrets will be revealed to you. Then savour a few vintages of this Médoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur.
