Built at the beginning of the 17th century by a favourite of Henri III, the château of the Dukes of Epernon was in its day fit for a royal palace.
Very typical of French architecture, it was converted in the 19th century into a women's prison. Classified historical monument. Unacompanied and guided tour, Heritage sales desk, bookshop with free access, permanent exhibition.
